Tips for Protecting Your Email

We all know that almost every work place are communicate through  some type of email in the internet.  Either you are a self-employed or work for a company, email is a must have for communication. In that case, knowing how to protect your email information is very important. 

Here is are some tips that will help you to protect your email:

1) Use a Strong Password. Like any account that you have in the internet, a strong password is always the first step to protect yourself from hacker. 

2) Beware Public PCs. If you are using public computer to check your email, always make sure that you are logout of your email before leaving. Even logout of your email, it might be leaving traces about yourself to the next user. I would command using your own laptop to check your emails if you have it with you.

3) Protect Your Address. Spammer and scammer are everywhere in the internet looking for new victims, so make sure you do not include your email address in comments on blog post or in any social media post. 

4) Lock It Up. Everytime you step away from your computer or laptop, make sure to lock the Windows desktop or close your email client to avoid people reading your emails.

5) Don't Be Fooled. If your received an email from your email provider to reset your password, do not click the link. It is probably someone out there trying to get access to your email account. 

6) Use Encryption. For sending sensitive information through email,  save the information as a document and store the document in an encrypted ZIP file, then send password to the recipient separately.
